OUR STORY · CERITA KAMI

More than a meal.
A feeling of home.

INDONESIAN ROOTS.
LOS ANGELES SOUL.

Food connects us to where we come from.
And sometimes, it brings us somewhere new.

01. HOW IT ALL BEGAN

Two journeys.
One shared longing.

We missed Indonesia. And we missed the food that shaped who we are.

Brody was born in the U.S. and grew up in Indonesia, surrounded by the flavors, aromas, and warmth of an Indonesian table. Renatta, born and raised in Indonesia, spent a decade living in the U.S., carrying that same longing for food that tastes like home.

From street stalls to family kitchens, Indonesian cooking is bold, generous, and deeply personal. Here in Los Angeles, we couldn’t quite find the flavors we remembered. So we decided to create a place of our own.

Padi was born from that feeling.

“Food is comfort.
It’s memory. It’s home.

02. ROOTED IN SOMETHING REAL

Tradition,
with a new point of view.

We celebrate modern Indonesian cuisine: inspired by the dishes we grew up with, and open to the possibilities of a new place.

Our hope is simple. To excite those discovering Indonesian food for the first time, and bring a little comfort to those who already know it by heart.

Let the food tell the story
